Most of our coaches are former gymnastics competitors and some of them are still competing, so I was very excited to hear that our Lead Coach Demi Hansford has just won Gold at the Trampoline and DMT league event.
LEAD COACH DEMI
Demi Hansford is Lead Coach at our Weybridge gymnastics club in Surrey. She is a competitive trampolinist and is currently taking part in synchro trampolining competitions. Her latest competition was the Trampoline and DMT league event on Sunday 11th June at the National Athletics Centre in Cardiff. Her synchro partner is Jemma Gray.

When I heard about Demi’s success at the event I contacted her to find out more about it.
How do you feel about winning your heat at the league event? “I am so happy that we have won Gold and qualified for the national finals in December which are taking place at the Olympic Park in the Velodrome. What a cool venue! Jemma and I are very pleased with the result and are going to work our hardest to increase our difficulty for the national finals competition later this year.”
TRAMPOLINING FUN!
How old were you when you first started trampolining? “I started trampolining in 2004, when I was 7 and I have been doing it ever since, competing around the UK, and a few international competitions too.”
Who is your favourite trampolinist and why? Bryony Page, she has amazing style on the trampoline, as well as having a lovely personality. She also won Silver at the Rio Olympics which was very inspiring.”
I’d also like to congratulate you on winning Coach of the Month recently. Why were you nominated? “I was nominated for improving my coaching skills and for helping Club Manager Amanda Williams with the opening of Club Farnham and also for organising the gym equipment for the Weybridge Tumble Camp.”

Fantastic stuff! What did you choose as your prize? “I chose the Aston Martin vs Lamborghini driving day as I think it will be a thrilling experience. I’m looking forward to it very much.”
What do you think of the Coach of the Month awards? “I think it’s a great idea. It’s brilliant to get recognised for the hard work that is put into running the gymnastics programmes at our clubs.”
