When children are being encouraged to interact with technology at every turn, are feeling the pressure at school and with the lack of open green spaces for children to play in, we as adults, need to work on restoring an active, healthy environment for our children.
Here are my Top 5 Reasons why we should help children become active again through weekly exercise, like gymnastics or trampolining.
LOWER RATES OF OBESITY
TOP REASON 1 – Children who are active for 60 minutes a day demonstrate lower rates of obesity so coming to a weekly gymnastics class where your child will be physically active for at least 60 minutes can only help your child move more and in turn burn calories whilst becoming fit and healthy.
HIGHER TEST SCORES IN READING
TOP REASON 2 – When children are more active their reading and maths scores have been known to increase. This is due to cognitive and physical development going hand in hand. Motion changes our emotional state and gets our mind connected to our body because we learn as a whole being and not just a brain. Frequent physical activity has also been associated with improved behaviour in the classroom.
ACTIVE CHILDREN BECOME ACTIVE ADULTS
TOP REASON 3 – Active children are more likely to become active adults. When children grow up with sport as part of their lives from a young age and enjoy all the benefits that this brings, they are far more likely to want to include sport as part of their adult life. In fact most adults who enjoyed an active childhood would say that sport is an essential part of their adult life.
FREQUENT EXERCISE DECREASES DEPRESSION
TOP REASON 4 – Frequent exercise is known to decrease depression and anxiety in children. It also helps lower blood pressure and keeps your heart healthy. Exercise is a great way to keep your child happy. And working through the award syllabus will also contribute to your child’s happiness. Because PROGRESS = HAPPINESS
REGULAR EXERCISE PROMOTES POSITIVE SELF IMAGE
TOP REASON 5 – Regular exercise with children helps to promote a healthy self-image. Your child is far more likely to feel positive about how they look and feel if they take part in regular fitness classes with like-minded, positive friends.
Exercise and frequent activity for children is essential to develop into happy, healthy and active adults. I hope you enjoyed my Top 5 Reasons to encourage your child to take part in weekly gymnastics classes and you’d like to find out more about us.
